A Bit About CAMS........

If you are interested in learning to fly model aircraft, or are a seasoned model pilot then you should know about the Cortland Aero-Modeling Society (CAMS).

The group was formed by Morgan Brown, Larry Potter, Ron Leopardi, Don Keagle, Charlie Wilson, Mahlon Iriah, Bill Newman, Robert Newman, Jack Tucker and Dick Thomas in the mid 50's.  Over the past 50 years the sport has changed and so has the group to include control line flying, electric sport planes and gliders, historical aircraft, jets, helicopters and giant scale aircraft.

The Cortland Aero-Modeling Society is a charter member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) that was formed in 1936 by model enthusiasts for model enthusiasts.  Today the role of the AMA is the foundation for model aviation safety and the promotion of this exciting hobby.

Among our members we have 2 AMA certified trainers and several fliers with years of experience, as well as a few beginners.  Because family participation is a big part of this hobby we have several group events throughout the year that include a picnic style get together and a Christmas party with plenty of  camaraderie.

While there are many ready to fly aircrafts on the market today, building continues to be a big part of our hobby and we have several members that are expert builders and would be happy to help you with your building projects.

During the summer our club tries to get together every Wednesday to fly after work, usually around 5PM.
Anyone interested, is welcome to come up to the field, watch us fly, ask questions, and in general, check us out.

All members are required to be an AMA member. The AMA allows us to give 2 flying lessons to anyone who is not an AMA member. Please take advantage of this and come on up to see if you might like this exciting hobby.
